Relaxed, yet cosmopolitan, the walled city of Lucca has been a favorite of ours for many years. Let us introduce you to its secrets, from out of the way corners for painting and sketching, to earthy street markets and food festivals in the countryside. We’ll take you places other art groups don’t, such as the impressive sculpture town of Pietrasanta and the breathtaking marble quarries of Carrara, where Michelangelo selected his stone.
Lucca is the perfect home base for easy day trips to Pisa or Florence, as well as some of northwest Tuscany’s most picturesque hill towns. But Lucca is also a vibrant city in its own right, boasting nightly concerts, world-class shopping, abundant historic sites, and the daily passeggiata along its park-like walls.
The New York Times declared the food in Lucca to be “among Italy’s most compelling – almost certainly the best in Tuscany.” Come savor a glorious week sampling the city’s restaurants and cafés, and enjoy a memorable evening with us dining under the stars at the Sagra dei Tordelli – a celebration of one of the area’s specialty pastas.
There’s much more awaiting you on our Tuscan Arts Sojourn; just pack your bags and leave the planning and logistics to us. We’ll escort you from Pisa airport to our carefully selected four-star hotel in Lucca’s historic center where you’ll greet your creative new friends at a cocktail reception followed by a grand welcome dinner at one of our favorite trattorias. Then get ready to spend the rest of the week fulfilling your personal Tuscan dreams.
