You’ll find great spots for plein air painting and photography everywhere in Sestri Levante, from the narrow medieval streets of the old village to the beaches of “The Bay of Silence.” Many other picturesque coastal towns are just a short train or boat ride away. On this Sojourn you can visit them all, from Santa Maria Ligure, to famous Portofino, and the ever-popular villages of the Cinque Terre.

Get ready to kick back in complete comfort in our very special four-star hotel nestled amidst palm trees and lush gardens on a mount overlooking the sea. Every room has its own private balcony or terrace. You’ll love the heated pool and solarium, and the views from the rooftop bar and panoramic restaurant will literally take your breath away.

And speaking of restaurants, the hotel dining service rivals the best restaurants in Sestri, so outstanding in fact that we include all dinners on this Sojourn! We don’t do this at any other hotel on our roster. So, you’ll not only enjoy a sumptuous breakfast from the buffet, but also a four-course dinner, including mineral water, house wines, and a decadent dessert bar, while you watch the sun set over the Mediterranean each evening.

Travel Coordination and Orientation

Detailed travel instructions will be sent to each participant to ensure they arrive and depart at times coordinating with our charter transportation connection. Applicants are responsible for securing their own transportation to and from their home and Cristoforo Colombo airport (GOA) in Genoa, Italy. No refunds are given for missed connections.

US departure should be on June 23 for next day arrival in Italy. Most airline tickets are non-refundable once issued, so it is essential that each applicant wait until they have received their confirmation and instructions before booking flights.

When we receive your application and deposit we will send a complete pre-trip orientation package to help you prepare. Our Sojourn will begin with an in-country orientation session as well.

Travel Insurance

We highly recommend purchasing travel insurance to guard against a possible loss in case of cancellation or withdrawal from the trip for some unforeseen reason. Please see our cancellation policy below.

Hotel

Our hotel is a top-level four-star establishment with full modern conveniences, including air conditioning, TV, WiFi, and private baths with hair dryers. There is a heated pool with jacuzzi for guest use. Complete information and links to the hotel website will be sent to all applicants.

Cost of the Arts Sojourn*

ARTS SOJOURN ON THE ITALIAN RIVIERA STANDARD PRICE: $2,650 — per person sharing a double room – includes all breakfasts and dinners.


WITH SINGLE ROOM SUPPLEMENT: $2,975 — total trip cost.

A limited number of single rooms are available on a first come basis. It is strongly suggest that you register early if you desire a single room. For those traveling alone who wish to share a double room, we will try our best to pair you with a compatible traveler of the same gender. If this is not possible, you will have the option of paying the additional surcharge for a single (if available) or you may decline to participate and receive a full refund of your deposit.


WITH SEA VIEW ROOM SUPPLEMENT: $2,895 — total trip cost per person sharing a Sea View room (only double rooms available in Sea View).


*Please note that these prices are based on the exchange rate as of August 2017. Although no increase is anticipated, due to the current volatility in the international exchange rate Arts Sojourn reserves the right to add an appropriate surcharge to cover additional costs should the value of the US dollar drop appreciably prior to our departure.

Payment Schedule

$350 non-refundable deposit due with application. Balance must be received no later than March 15, 2018. (It may still be possible to join the Arts Sojourn after the March deadline if space is available.)

Confirmation and Pre-Trip Orientation

Confirmation and comprehensive trip information will be emailed within two weeks of receipt of your deposit.

Cancellations and Refunds

 

We understand that events sometimes happen that may preclude you from joining us. Notice of cancellation must be made in writing via email. The following scale of charges will apply after cancellation notice is received:

  • All deposits are non-refundable.
  • Between 60 days and 30 days prior to departure, there is a cancellation fee of 50% of the total price of the trip.
  • Less than 30 days prior to departure the cancellation fee is 100% of the total price.

Sorry, but we must be firm in our cancellation policy. We highly recommended all applicants purchase travel insurance to guard against possible loss.
 In the unlikely event that we must cancel an Arts Sojourn, we will issue you a full refund of all funds paid to us, including your deposit.

Luggage

Each person is strictly limited to one suitcase and one carry on (art supplies included). No exceptions. Please travel light and be certain that you are capable of handling your own luggage. All baggage and personal effects are at all times and in all circumstances at the risk of the participant.

  • Hotel accommodations for 7 nights: prices per person are based on two persons sharing a double room. Surcharges apply if a single room or Sea View room is requested.
